7 Trusted Solutions to Use if Windows 10 PC Volume or Sound Is Too Low

1. Restart audio device

  1. Click Windows + X and select open Device Manager.

  2. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers option, right-click the Display Audio option and click Disable device.

  4. After waiting some minutes, click Sound, video and game controllers to expand and right-click Display Audio, and finally, select Enable device.
  5. Reboot your PC and check if the problem persists.

2. Update audio drivers

  1. Click Windows + X and select open the Device Manager once again.

  2. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers option, right-click the Display Audio option, and click Update driver.

  3. Choose Search automatically for drivers and allow Windows install updates if available.

3. Update Windows

  1. Select Windows + I and choose Update & Security.

  3. If updates are available, select install updates and verify to see if the problem has been resolved.

4. Verify play back device

  1. In the bottom right corner of your screen, right-click the audio icon and select Sounds.

5. Run audio troubleshooter

  1. Right-click the audio icon and select Troubleshoot sound problems.
  2. From the options displayed, choose your audio device and click Next.
  3. Choose Yes, Open Audio Enhancements.
  4. Click the Disable all sound effects box and select OK.
  5. Test your audio once more to see if it worked.

6. Increase volume with volume mixer

  1. Right-click the volume icon and select Open Volume mixer.
  2. In the Volume mixer window, increase the volume to the maximum.
  3. Check to see if the problem has been resolved.

7. Change the sound quality of speakers

  1. Right-click the volume icon and select the Sounds option.
  2. Select the Playback tab, right-click on Speakers, and choose Properties.
  3. In the Speakers Properties window, select the Advanced tab, click the drop-down pane for more options, and then choose the highest audio quality, and finally click OK.
