Update BIOS on Windows 11 [5 Best Methods]

Welcome to the Windows 11 Bios Update Guide! This guide will teach you how to update your computer’s BIOS (Basic Input/Output System). The latest version available from your computer manufacturer would be gotten.

Updating the BIOS can help improve system stability and performance. It can provide support for new hardware, as well as features and bug fixes. We’ll walk you through downloading, preparing, and installing the BIOS update.

Should I update my BIOS for Windows 11?

It depends on whether your current BIOS version works with Windows 11 and is stable. If so, then no, you don’t need to update your BIOS to use Windows 11. There will be no reason to update it.

However, if there is a newer version of BIOS that specifically adds support for Windows 11 or if you are experiencing issues with the current version, then you should update it.

Reasons that you may consider a BIOS update may include:

  • Hardware compatibility: You should consider it to address hardware compatibility issues.
  • New Hardware components: You will need a newer BIOS version to support new hardware components.
  • Performance: To provide improved system performance and stability, you will need an updated BIOS.

  • Repair purposes: Newer BIOS will fix known bugs and vulnerabilities.
  • Power Management: To enhance power management features, you will require newer BIOS.
  • Improved security: To improve the system’s overall security, newer BIOS may be necessary.

How do I update my BIOS on Windows 11?

1. Update Via ASUS

  1. Open the ASUS Download Center on your web browser.

  2. Enter your motherboard model in the search box and click on it in the results provided.

  3. Click on Driver & Utility and then Driver & Tools.

  4. Choose your operating system by clicking Please choose in front of Please select OS which is Windows 11 (Windows 11 64-bit).
  5. Now, locate Software and Utility, and under it find ASUS AI Suite 3, and select Download.

  6. Scroll back up and click on the BIOS & FIRMWARE tab, look for the BIOS section and click Download.
  7. Now, extract the ZIP file embedding ASUS AI Suite 3, open AsusSetup.exe and then install the program.

  8. When completed, restart your device.
  9. Also extract the ZIP file containing the BIOS folder.

  10. Now launch Asus AI Suite 3 and choose the Menu icon using the three horizontal lines on the left side.

  11. Then choose EZ update.
  12. In the Manually update boot logo or BIOS option, click the Ellipses (…), and select the very BIOS file you extracted earlier.

  13. Click on Update in the lower-right corner of the display.

  14. Select Flash and click OK.
  15. Restart your computer when the process is complete.

2. Update BIOS on Windows 11 through HP Image Assistant

  1. Go to HP Image Assistant (HPIA) and download and install the most recent version from the SoftPaq column.
  2. In the File Explorer, navigate to and launch HPImageAssistant.exe.
  3. Click on the Download SoftPaqs tab and then in Create My Poducts List, click Create to open the Edit My Products List window.

  4. Under Create My Products List, select Create to launch the Edit My Products List window
  5. Click the drop-down menu for Select operating system and choose your operating system.

  6. Choose your product from the HP Product Catalog list, or use the Search box to search for your product by name and number. You could enter EliteBook or 800 in the Search box and click Apply.
  7. Next, under Select from My Products List, select your computer.
  8. Under Get SoftPaqs, click Analyze, and then wait as HPIA retrieves and downloads the image configuration from HP. The Available SoftPaqs tab lists the SoftPaqs available for the selected computers.
  9. Click on the drop-down menu for Select Components to Download/Apply, and then choose the BIOS component. If unavailable, your BIOS is up to date.
  10. Then click Download.
  11. Select Download and extract SoftPaqs, and then click Start.

3. Update BIOS on HP

  1. Go to the HP driver and software download website.

  2. Select laptop or desktop, depending on the type of computer you’re using.
  3. Now enter your serial number or computer model. Make sure you don’t make any mistake.
  4. Select your OS and OS version and then click on the Submit button.

  5. Now click on the All drivers option and expand BIOS to see the available updates.
  6. Click the Download icon.

  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the .exe file.
  8. When the process is complete, restart your computer.
  9. During the startup, select Apply Update Now. 

4. Update via Lenovo

  1. Visit the Lenovo support site on your browser.

  2. Then scroll down and click on the Drivers & Software option under Support.

  3. Enter your serial number which you should have already copied from the Command Prompt.
  4. Select your computer operating system.
  5. Select Drivers & Software and find Manual Update.
  6. Now expand the BIOS/UEFI option.
  7. Click on the Download as soon as you locate the BIOS you’re looking for.

  8. Extract the file once downloaded and run it.
  9. Follow the onscreen instructions to install it.
  10. Restart your computer after you’re done

5. Update via Dell Support

  1. Open Dell Support on your browser.

  2. Identify your Dell computer by using any of the following ways:
    • Click Download & Install SupportAssist to auto-detect your Dell computer. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Dell SupportAssist.
    • Or, enter the Service Tag, Express Service Code, or the Serial number of the Dell computer and click Search.
    • Or, click Browse all products to select your Dell computer from the catalog manually.

  3. Select the Operating System that is installed on the computer.
  4. Under Category, select BIOS.
  5. Locate the latest System BIOS.
  6. Click Download and save the file to your computer.
  7. Using File Explorer (also known as Windows Explorer), browse to the location where the downloaded file was saved.
  8. Double-click the downloaded BIOS setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
  9. The computer will restart and complete the BIOS update process.

Updating the BIOS on Windows 11 is a straightforward process that helps your computer run more efficiently. Not only does it update your system with the latest software, but it also helps protect your computer from any potential security risks.
