8 Fixes for Urban VPN Connection Error

  3. Lastly, check to see if the problem has been resolved.

2. Use the command prompt to reset DNS settings

  1. Hold down the Windows + R keys simultaneously to launch the Run dialogue, type cmd in the search bar, and hit Enter.

  2. To bring back DNS settings to default, use the command below.
    ipconfig /flushdns
  3. Reboot your system, open Urban VPN again, and check to see if the problem has been resolved.

3. Disable Windows Defender Firewall

  1. Hold the Start button in the search bar, type Windows Security, and click Open.
  2. In the Windows Security windows, choose Firewall & network protection.

  4. Now disable the Firewall for the selected network.
  5. In the UAC prompt, click Yes to confirm your choice.
  6. Lastly, check to see if the problem has been fixed.

4. Remove Chrome DNS cache

  1. Open your Chrome browser, input chrome://net-internals/#dns in the search bar, and hit Enter.

  2. Next, click on the Clear host cache button to remove all the cache in your browser.
  3. Finally, verify to see if the problem persists.

5. Reinstall Urban VPN

  1. Click on the extension icon at the top right corner of your screen and choose Manage extensions.
  2. Scroll down and locate Urban VPN, click on it, and select Remove.
  3. Now, go to your Chrome browser settings by clicking on the three dots at the top right corner of your screen and select Settings.

  4. Click the Privacy and security tab in the Settings window and select Clear browsing data.
  5. Next, tick the box next to the Cookies and other site data option and click the Clear data option.
  6. After clearing the cookies, go back to your Chrome web store, search for and download the Urban VPN by clicking the Add to Chrome button.
  7. Check to see if the problem has been resolved.

6. Disable Chrome extensions

  1. Choose the extension icon and click Manage extensions from the menu.

  2. Disable the toggle for all the extensions listed.
  3. Verify to know if Urban VPN now works; if it is functioning, start enabling all the extensions one after the other until the problem resumes; when this happens, it means the last extension enabled caused the problem.
  4. Now click the Remove button to delete the problematic extension.
  5. In the confirmation prompt, click the Remove button again.
  6. Try relaunching your Urban VPN and checking if the problem has been fixed.

7. Disable the proxy server

  1. Hold the Windows + I keys to open the Settings app and select Network & Internet.

  2. Go down and select Proxy from the left pane; on the right side of your screen, disable the Use a proxy server option under the Manual proxy setup option.
  3. Relaunch your Urban VPN and check if the problem has been fixed.

8. Clear your browsing data

  1. Click the three dots at the top right corner of your screen and choose Settings.
  2. Click Privacy and security on the left pane, then choose Clear browsing data on the right.
  3. Change the Time range to All time, check the boxes next to Browsing history, Cookies and other site data, and Cached images and files options, then click the Clear data button to start the process.

  4. Once this process is complete, relaunch Urban VPN and check if it works.
